I was thinking about the mental health initiatives and was wondering if there could be a component on helping parents/guardians become aware, and working them into the plan. Maybe it is just parent nights that focus on these issues and what parents can do to help. Not focusing on specific parents.
I am involved with the Stephens Lewis Foundation-Grandparent to Grandparent Yukon. The grandparents in Africa that are raising grandchildren need a lot of hands-on support, but also mind-on support to talk through how to work with their grandchildren.

Maybe this is already being addressed, or not part of the mandate.

How can we all contribute to the development of a national MH strategy that includes schools. This strategy should define appropriate FPT policy directions, a defined research agenda for the schools role in promoting mental health, an active on-going knowledge exchange mechanism for practitioners and others and more. Who is responsible for developing this strategy and how can we participate?
